This was the maquette for the Woodford Green statue [1959/4] produced from sittings at Churchill’s home Chartwell in May and June 1958. It is sometimes referred to as “Churchill crossing the lawns at Chartwell”.
Casts of the maquette are in Glasgow City Museum (S.276)
and the Church of the Holy Trinity, New York.
The pose was slightly changed after the
inspection by Lady Churchill (below)
