This plaster maquette (scale 1”:1foot) was commissioned by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as a design for a colossal granite memorial at Liverpool Docks commemorating the loss of all members of a mission in 1942.  The maquette was approved but the project was cancelled in 1975 by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for funding reasons.
